Foreword
This Standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Standard replaces GB 10789-2007 "General Standard for Beverage" and the No. 1 modification list. Compared with GB 10789-2007, the main changes of this Standard are as follows: -- Modify the names and orders of beverage classification; -- Delete or adjust the sub-classification and definition of some beverage classification; -- Modify the expression form of indicators requirements in Table
1 Basic Technical Requirement. This Standard was proposed by China Beverage Industry Association. This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Beverage Standardization Technical Committee. Drafting organizations of this Standard. 1 Scope

This Standard specifies the beverage's terms, definitions, classification, naming, technical requirements, label, claim, transportation, storage and consumer's identification requirements for bottled water. This Standard is applicable to beverage's production and research-development, as well as the formulation of beverage product standards and other standards that are relevant to beverage. This Standard is not applicable to drinking medicine.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this Standard.
3.1 Beverage; drinks The drinking product which is quantitatively packed for direct drinking or diluted with water to a certain ratio for drinking; its ethanol content (mass fraction) is no more than 0.5%. It can also be beverage syrup or in solid state.
4 Classification
Classification of beverages is shown in Annex A.
4.1 Packaged drinking water Its original sources are surface water, underground water or water from public water supply system; after processed and sealed in containers, it can be used for direct drinking.
4.1.1 Natural mineral water Natural mineral water is the water that naturally gushes from deep ground or is obtained through drilling, containing a certain amount of mineral substance, microelement and other contents, whose original resource is not contaminated and protected from contamination. Usually, its dynamic indicators such as chemical component, flow and temperature are relatively stable in natural periodic fluctuation range.
4.1.3 Other types drinking water
4.2 Fruit/vegetable juices and beverage It is liquid beverage after processed or fermented, using fruit and (or) vegetable (including edible root, stem, leaf, flower, fruit) as raw materials.
4.2.1 Fruit/vegetable juice (puree) Using fruit or vegetable as raw material, processed with physical approaches (mechanical method, water extraction); it is the juice or puree product that can be fermented but not fermented, or the juice or puree product that is recovered by ADDING the equivalent- amount of water that was removed during processing INTO the concentrated fruit/vegetable juice (puree), such as originally extracted juice (non-reconstituted juice), reconstituted juice, vegetable juice, fruit/vegetable puree and mixed fruit & vegetable juice (puree).
4.4 Carbonated beverage The liquid beverage that is processed and based on food raw and auxiliary materials and (or) food additive, it is aerated with a certain amount of carbon dioxide under a certain condition, such as fruit juice carbonated beverage, fruit flavored carbonated beverage, carbonated cola beverage and other carbonated beverages; it does not include the beverages that produce carbon dioxide by self-fermentation.
4.5 Beverage for special uses The liquid beverage that contains specific contents for all or a certain group of people.
4.6 Flavored beverage The liquid beverage that uses one or more than one types of substance, such as sugar (including edible sugar and starch sugar) and (or) sweetening agent, acidity regulator, edible essence as the main approach, it is processed or fermented, such as tea beverage, fruit-flavored beverage, milk-flavored beverage, coffee-flavored beverage, flavored water beverage and other flavored beverages.
4.7 Tea beverage The liquid beverage that uses tea or tea water extract or tea concentrated solution, tea powder (including instant tea-powder, grinding tea-powder) or fresh tea leaf as raw materials, adding or not adding other food raw and auxiliary materials and (or) food additive, it is a processed liquid beverage, such as original tea (tea soup)/pure tea beverage, concentrated tea solution, tea beverage, fruit juice and tea beverage, milky tea beverage, mixed tea beverage and other tea beverage.
4.10 Solid beverage The solid product that consists of powder, particle or block made up of food raw and auxiliary materials and food additives; being diluted, it is drinkable, such as flavored solid beverage, fruit and vegetable solid beverage, protein solid beverage, tea solid beverage, coffee solid beverage, botanical solid beverage, solid beverage for special usage and other solid beverages.
4.11 Other beverage The beverages that are excluded from 4.1 ~ 4.10; in which, the beverages that are approved by relevant authorities AND are claimed to have specific health care function ARE DEEMED as functional beverages.
5 Naming
Beverage products can be named according to the classification of Chapter 4, or adopting two or more than two classifications to cross-name the product.
6 Technical Requirements
6.1 Basic requirements shall comply with the stipulation of Table 1.
6.3 The beverages described in 4.2 ~
4.11 and their corresponding beverage syrup, after diluted according to the label, shall meet the technical requirements of Table 1.
6.4 If the product is cross-named with two or more than two classifications, then it shall comply with the basic requirements of the both classifications. The usage of food additives and nutrient supplements shall implement GB 2760 and GB 14880 according to the end- name of the product.
7 Food Safety Requirement
Food safety shall comply with relevant national food safety standards.
8 Labeling and Claim
8.1 It shall comply with the stipulations of GB 7718 and GB 28050.
9 Transportation and Storage
9.1 The product shall be free from exposure to the sun, rain and pressure; the product needing cold-chain transportation and storage shall meet the requirements of labeled transportation and storage conditions.
9.2 The product shall not be mixed, transported and stored with toxic, harmful, smelled, volatile and corrosive products.
