Scope

GB 5135.4-2003 is the English-translated version of 自动喷水灭火系统 第4部分: 干式报警阀.

GB 5135.4-2003 is Part 4 of the Chinese national standard series on automatic sprinkler systems and specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking, instructions for use, packaging, transport and storage of dry pipe valves, both differential-type and mechanical-type; it does not apply to accessories other than dry pipe valves.

The requirements cover appearance, nominal diameters from 50 mm to 250 mm, a rated working pressure of at least 1.2 MPa, corrosion-resistant materials, body connections to GB/T 9112 and GB/T 3287, springs and diaphragms for 5 000 cycles, ageing of rigid non-metallic parts, clapper seal tensile, ozone and hot water properties, body strength at 4 times the rated working pressure (at least 4.8 MPa), leakage not above 3 mL/min, hydraulic friction loss not above 0.02 MPa at flows from 600 L/min to 14 000 L/min, trip function with differential ratios of 5:1 to 8.5:1 at 0.14 MPa, intermediate chamber drain valves, latch mechanisms and an 800 °C fire resistance test.

Clause 5 gives the test methods, including air ageing (D = 737 000 e^(-0.0693 t)) and hot water ageing (D = 74 857 e^(-0.0693 t)) of non-metallic parts, clapper seal sticking, strength, leakage, friction loss and function tests; normative Annex A gives an alternative friction loss method and informative Annex B the clearance requirements.

Clauses 4 and 6 are mandatory and the rest are recommended; it mainly refers to ISO 6182.3 (1993). It was issued on 8 October 2003 and has been in force since 1 May 2004.
