Scope

GB 5135.10-2006 is the English-translated version of 自动喷水灭火系统 第10部分:压力开关.

GB 5135.10-2006, Part 10 of the GB 5135 series on automatic sprinkler systems, specifies the model designation, classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport and storage of pressure switches, the components that convert the system pressure signal into an electrical signal.

It applies to pressure switches in automatic sprinkler systems, but not to those of gas extinguishing systems or to explosion-proof switches for flammable and explosive locations.

Switches are classified by application (ordinary P, pre-action device Y, special T) and structure (adjustable K, non-adjustable B, memory type J) and designated ZSJY followed by rated working pressure, structure and application, e.g. ZSJY1.2KY.

The requirements include a rated working pressure of at least 1.2 MPa, an action pressure of 0.035 MPa to 0.05 MPa for ordinary switches and 0.03 MPa to 0.05 MPa for pre-action devices with no operation at 80% of it, a hydrostatic strength test at 1.5 times the working pressure for 5 min, operational reliability with contact resistance not above 0.5 Omega afterwards, damp heat, salt spray and sulfur dioxide corrosion, vibration and bump resistance, insulation resistance of at least 20 MOmega, dielectric strength at 500 V or 1 500 V for 60 s, contact resistance not above 0.1 Omega, at least one pair of normally open and normally closed contacts, and Rc/R2 1/2, Rc/R2 3/4 or M20×1.5 connections.

Test methods follow for each property, then inspection rules, instructions for use and marking. Clauses 5, 6 and 8 are mandatory. It was developed from GA 29-1992, adding the SO2 corrosion test, unified designation and connection methods, and is issued for the first time.

It was issued on 7 April 2006 and has been in force since 1 December 2006. Classification: ICS 13.220.20, CCS C83. The document runs to 13 pages, delivered complete in English translation.

Foreword

Clauses 5, 6 and 8 of this part of GB 5135 are mandatory; the rest are recommendatory.

GB 5135 Automatic sprinkler system is currently divided into 15 parts:

- Part 1: Sprinklers;

- Part 2: Wet alarm valves, retarding chambers and water motor alarms;

- Part 3: Water spray nozzles;

- Part 4: Dry pipe valves;

- Part 5: Deluge valves;

- Part 6: General valves;

- Part 7: Water flow indicators;

- Part 8: Accelerators;

- Part 9: Early suppression fast response (ESFR) sprinklers;

- Part 10: Pressure switches;

- Part 11: Grooved couplings and fittings;

- Part 12: Extended coverage sprinklers;

- Part 13: Water curtain nozzles;

- Part 14: Pre-action devices;

- Part 15: Residential sprinklers.

...

This part is Part 10 of GB 5135 Automatic sprinkler system.

This part has been developed on the basis of GA 29-1992 Performance requirements and test methods for pressure switches for fire protection use.

Compared with GA 29-1992, the main changes in this part are as follows:

- the standard applies to pressure switches in automatic sprinkler systems;

- the model designation of pressure switches has been unified;

- the provisions on the action pressure values of pressure switches have been made more detailed;

- an SO2 corrosion test has been added to the corrosion tests;

- the marking requirements for pressure switches have been placed in Clause 6;

- the connection methods of pressure switches have been added;

- the test sequences for factory inspection and type inspection are given in tables.

From the date of implementation of this part, GA 92-1992 is repealed.

This part was proposed by the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China.

This part is under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee 2 of the National Technical Committee for Fire Protection Standardization (SAC/TC 113/SC 2).

Drafting organisation of this part: Tianjin Fire Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security.

Main drafters of this part: Li Ximin, Gao Yunsheng, Liu Lianxi, Bai Diantao.

This part is issued for the first time.
