Scope

GB 440-1977 is the English-translated version of 20号航空润滑油.

GB 440-1977 specifies the quality requirements for No. 20 aviation lubricating oil produced by the solvent refining process, from the raw materials and by the process used for the samples that passed the State engine test.

Its single table of requirements sets limits for kinematic viscosity at 100 °C (not less than 20 cSt) and the 50 °C/100 °C viscosity ratio, carbon residue, acid value, ash, selective solvent, water-soluble acids or alkalis, mechanical impurities, water, closed-cup flash point, pour point, colour after dilution with kerosene, density at 20 °C, thermal oxidation stability at 250 °C, corrosion and viscosity-temperature coefficient, each tied to a GB or SY test method.

Packaging, marking, storage, transport and delivery acceptance follow SYB 2000-62 S, and 2 L is sampled to SY 2001-77 for inspection and retention.

It replaces GB 440-64; Amendment No. 1 of 1988 deletes the designation code HH-20 and incorporates the viscosity-temperature coefficient method GB 389-77 as supplementary Annex A. It was issued on 30 November 1977 and has been in force since 1 January 1978.

Classification: ICS 75.100, CCS E34. The document runs to 3 pages, delivered complete in English translation.
