GB 39800 "Personal Protective Equipment Provisioning Specification" is divided into the following parts:

1 Scope

Part 4 of China's mandatory series on the provision of personal protective equipment, covering non-coal mines - the metal and non-metal mines and quarries governed on the safety side by GB 16423, here from the point of view of what the individual worker must be given. This part specifies the overall requirements for the provision of personal protective equipment by employers in the non-coal mining industry, the identification and assessment of the hazard factors, and the requirements for the equipment. It is applied together with the general requirements of Part 1. The hazards divide by where the work is done. Underground: falling ground, the dust that causes silicosis and that is the industry's largest long-term killer, the blasting fume, the noise of drilling in a confined space, the water, the poor lighting, the diesel exhaust of the loaders, and the possibility of an atmosphere that is not breathable - which is why the self-rescuer, and the training to use it, appear here as equipment rather than as a rescue arrangement. In the open pit: the dust and the noise again, the mobile plant, the slopes, the weather, and the work at height on faces and on plant. And in the processing plant and around the tailings: the crushing and screening dust, the chemicals of flotation and leaching, and the moving machinery. Against those the document sets the equipment provided to each type of worker - the helmet and the cap lamp, the eye and face protection, the hearing protection, the respiratory protection selected against the dust and the fume actually present, the hand, body and foot protection, the fall protection, and the self-rescuer - together with the conditions of use and the replacement. Issued on 24 December 2020 and in force since 1 January 2022.
