GB 30863-2025 is the English-translated version of 眼面部防护 激光防护具.
GB 30863-2025 is the Chinese national standard on eye and face protection - laser eye-protectors, in the field of environment and health protection, safety. It carries no /T suffix, which in the Chinese system means compliance is mandatory: a product or a practice within its scope has to meet it to be lawfully made, sold or carried out in China. It was issued on 29 August 2025 by the Ministry of Emergency Management, and has been in force since 1 September 2026. Classification: ICS 13.340.99, CCS C73. This page is published from the official record of the standard held by the Chinese standards administration: the identification, the dates, the classification and the issuing body are taken from there. The clause text, the tables and the numeric limits are in the document itself, which is delivered complete in English translation.

Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part
1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document supersedes GB 30863-2014 "Personal Protective Equipment - Eye and Face Protection - Laser Protective Glasses" and is consistent with GB 30863-2014. Aside from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
---The scope has been changed (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the.2014 edition);
---The term "protection level" has been changed (see 3.1,.2014 edition);
---The terms "optical density," "pulse duration," "irradiation duration," and "reference point (for measurement)" have been added (see 3.2-3.5);
---Changed "Spectral transmittance of filters and frames" to "Optical density (OD)" and modified the corresponding technical details (see 4.1). (
4.1 of the.2014 edition)
---The specifications for the visible light transmittance of filters have been changed (see 4.2,.2014 edition of 4.2);
---Changed "Laser radiation protection performance of filters and frames" to "Protection level (RC)" and modified the corresponding technical details (see...). 4.3 (
4.3 in the.2014 edition);
---The duration of laser irradiation has been specified (see 4.4);
---The specification for short pulse transmittance has been added (see 4.5);
---Change "Refractive power of filters and protective lenses" to "Difference between spherical power, astigmatism, and prism power (plano lenses)" (see 4.6,.2014). Version 4.4);
---Added regulations on spherical and cylindrical power (corrective lenses) (see 4.7);
1 Scope
GB 30863-2025 is the Chinese national standard on eye and face protection - laser eye-protectors, in the field of environment and health protection, safety. It carries no /T suffix, which in the Chinese system means compliance is mandatory: a product or a practice within its scope has to meet it to be lawfully made, sold or carried out in China. This document specifies the technical requirements and markings for laser protective equipment and describes the corresponding test methods. This document applies to laser glasses, laser goggles, and laser masks used to protect against accidental exposure to laser radiation (wavelength range of 180nm~1mm). Eye protection devices such as masks or face shields (including filters, frames, side panels, etc.); also suitable for eye protection devices used for laser calibration. This document does not apply to laser protection filters used as viewing windows on laser equipment, nor to optical equipment (such as microscopes and...). Laser protection filter on a magnifying glass.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 30042-2013, as well as the following terms and definitions, apply to this document.
3.1 Protection rating (resistance category); RC The level of radiation that laser protective equipment can withstand without reducing its protective performance.
Note. The protection level of laser filters and frames may vary depending on the type, wavelength, or wavelength range of the laser.
3.2 Optical density; OD Spectral density The logarithm of the reciprocal of the spectral transmittance, base 10.
Note. Optical density is used to represent the degree of energy attenuation of laser light after passing through a filter, and is calculated according to formula (1). D(lambda)=lg tau(lambda) (1) In the formula. D(lambda)
--- optical density; tau(lambda)
--- Spectral transmittance. [Source: GB/T 30042-2013, 6.5, with modifications]
3.3 Pulse duration The time difference measured between the half-peak power points of the pulse leading and trailing edges.
Note. For ultrashort pulses, the pulse duration is related to the spectral bandwidth. [Source: GB/T 7247.1-2024, 3.69]
3.4 Exposure duration The duration of a single pulse, a series of pulses, a pulse train, or continuous laser radiation irradiating the human body.
Note. For a single pulse, the irradiation duration is the duration between the half-peak power point at the pulse's leading edge and the corresponding point at the trailing edge. For a pulse train (or pulse train of...), the duration is... (Partially), the irradiation duration is the duration between the half-peak power point at the leading edge of the first pulse and the half-peak power point at the trailing edge of the last pulse. time. 3.5 Visual centers When the laser protective gear is correctly worn on the appropriate head mold, the intersection of the horizontal line of sight perpendicular to the center of the pupil and the lens.
Note. A schematic diagram of the reference point (for measurement) is shown in Figure 1. Indexing symbol explanation. V
---Reference point (visual center); 1
4 Technical Requirements
4.1 Optical Density (OD) The optical density shall be tested according to the method specified in 6.2, calculated according to formula (1), and the optical density of the laser protective equipment shall be specified according to the following requirements.
a) When laser protection has multiple protection wavelengths, the OD value for each wavelength and/or wavelength range should be given;
