1 Scope

GB 30000.8-2013 is the Chinese national standard on rules for classification and labelling of chemicals - part 8: flammable solids. It carries no /T suffix, which in the Chinese system means compliance is mandatory: a product or a practice within its scope has to meet it to be lawfully made, sold or carried out in China. It was issued on 10 October 2013 by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 November 2014. This Part of GB 30000 specifies the terms and definitions, classification criteria, decision logic and guidance, and labels of flammable solids. This Part is applicable to the classification and labelling of flammable solids according to the United Nations "Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals" (Hereafter referred to as GHS).

3 Terms and definitions

Those defined in GB 13690 AND the following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Flammable solids A flammable solid is a solid which is readily combustible, or may cause or contribute to fire through friction.

4 Classification criteria

4.1 General rules of classification and labels of flammable solids are shown in GB 13690.

4.2 Powdered, granular or pasty substances or mixtures shall be classified as readily combustible solids when the time of burning of one or more of the test runs, performed in accordance with the test method described in the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III, sub-section 33.2.1, is less than 45 s or the rate of burning is more than

4.4 Solids which may cause fire through friction shall be classified in this class by analogy with existing entries (e.g. matches) until definitive criteria are established.

4.5 A flammable solid is classified in one of the two categories for this class using Method N.1 as described in Part III, sub-section

This Part shall replace GB 20582-2006 "Safety rules for classification, precautionary labelling and precautionary statements of chemicals - Flammable solids ". This Part is consistent with the relevant technical content of the United Nations "Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, GHS" (Fourth revised edition).
