Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part

1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 24536-2009 "Protective clothing - Selection, use and maintenance of chemical protective clothing" and GB/T 24536- Compared with.2009, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) Added the scope of this document. scrapping and replacement (see Chapter 1);

b) The terms and definitions have been changed (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the.2009 edition);

c) The term "non-gastight chemical protective suit-ET" was deleted (see

3.8 of the.2009 edition);

d) The types and codes of chemical protective clothing have been changed (see Table 1, Table 1 of the.2009 edition);

e) Added that the selection process of chemical protective clothing should be recorded in relevant documents (see 4.1.6);

f) Added a detailed description of the protective performance level of chemical protective clothing (see 4.3.2.1);

g) Changed the selection principles of reusable and limited-use chemical protective clothing (see

4.3.2.2 and 4.3.2.3,.2009 edition) 4.3.2.2);

h) The flow chart for selecting chemical protective clothing has been modified (see Figure 1 of the.2009 edition);

1 Scope

GB 24536-2025 is the Chinese national standard on protective clothing - selection, use and maintenance of chemical protective clothing, in the field of environment and health protection, safety. It carries no /T suffix, which in the Chinese system means compliance is mandatory: a product or a practice within its scope has to meet it to be lawfully made, sold or carried out in China. It was issued on 29 August 2025 by the Ministry of Emergency Management, and has been in force since 1 September 2026. Classification: ICS 13.340.10, CCS C73. This document specifies the selection, use, maintenance, disposal and replacement of chemical protective clothing. This document applies to chemical protective clothing used by workers in working environments and emergency rescue activities.

3 Terms and Definitions

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB 24539-2025 and GB/T 12903 and the following apply.

3.1 Clothing used to protect the human body from harm caused by chemical substances.

Note. This clothing can cover the whole body, one or more parts of the human body, can be a combination of multiple pieces of protective clothing, and can also be matched with other protective equipment use.

3.2 A garment that completely covers the wearer (or completely covers the wearer and respiratory protection) and is capable of providing airtight and/or liquidtight protection.

3.3 Clothing that provides protection for most of the human body (at least the torso, arms and legs), but does not need to cover the wearer's respiratory protection equipment.

Note. It is divided into one-piece protective clothing and two-piece protective clothing.

3.4 Chemical protective clothing worn to protect one or more parts of the body.

Note. Local protection chemical protective clothing can be used alone or in combination with other clothing to improve the protection level of local parts of the body. Depending on the body part, the specific product types can be aprons, sleeves, overalls, shoe/boot covers, hoods, coats, gowns, neck covers, socks, etc.
