This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part

1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB 19053-2003 "Safety Limits of Pathogens in Funeral Places". 1 Scope

GB 19053-2024 is the Chinese national standard on safety limits of pathogenic bacteria for funeral and interment place, in the field of environment and health protection, safety. It carries no /T suffix, which in the Chinese system means compliance is mandatory: a product or a practice within its scope has to meet it to be lawfully made, sold or carried out in China. It was issued on 28 November 2024 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 December 2025. Classification: ICS 13.020, CCS c 51. This document specifies the safety limits, hygiene requirements and monitoring and inspection methods for pathogens in various types of funeral venues. This document applies to funeral places such as funeral homes, funeral service stations, cemeteries and columbariums.

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 23287 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 pathogenic bacteria Microorganisms that can cause disease to the host.

Note. including bacteria, viruses, fungi, rickettsia, etc. Common pathogens in funeral places include. coliform group, Staphylococcus aureus, beta-hemolytic streptococcus and Fecal coliform bacteria, etc.

3.2 Total bacterial count The samples collected from the air in public places or the public utensils are processed by sampling and counting on nutrient agar medium at 36°C±1°C. 3.3 Total fungi count For samples collected from the air of public places, the number of colonies formed on Sabouraud agar medium after incubation at 28°C for 5 days was counted.
