Basic requirements for international transfer of remains

1 Scope

This document specifies the general requirements for the international transfer of remains, the requirements for the export of remains, and the requirements for the import of remains.

This document applies to international body transfer agencies that handle the transfer of bodies, coffins, and human remains entering or leaving the country.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

4 General requirements

4.1 The international body transfer agency must obtain international body transfer qualifications authorized by the funeral and interment administration department of the State Council.

4.2 The design of the sanitary protection of the embalming site of the international body transfer contractor shall comply with the requirements of 6.1 of JGJ124-1999.

The safety limit of bacteria should comply with the requirements of GB 19053.

4.3 International transfer of remains should have a clear funeral organizer. The funeral organizer for the transfer of remains abroad should be the Chinese embassy or consulate, the family of the deceased, the Chinese embassy or consulate in China, or the Chinese embassy or consulate in China.

4.6 Contaminants in the remains should be disinfected and rendered harmless, and the packaging should meet environmental protection requirements.
