Scope

GB 14924.3-2010 is the English-translated version of 实验动物 配合饲料营养成分.

Part 3 of China's mandatory series on laboratory animals, setting the nutrient composition of the compound feeds they are given - the part of the animal house that is invisible in a published paper and yet decides whether the results from two laboratories can be compared at all, since an animal on a different diet is a different experimental system. This part specifies the nutrient requirements for the formula feeds of laboratory animals, and it applies to the compound feeds for laboratory animals, excluding the special requirements of the feeds for model animals. The requirements are tabulated species by species and, within a species, by the physiological stage the animal is at, since a growing, a breeding and a maintenance diet are not the same: mice, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, dogs and monkeys each have their own column. What is set for each is the crude protein, the crude fat, the crude fibre, the crude ash and the moisture; the amino acids, with lysine and the sulfur amino acids leading; the minerals and trace elements, calcium and phosphorus and their ratio among them; and the vitamins, both fat and water soluble. Because the guinea pig cannot synthesise ascorbic acid and the rabbit needs a fibre level that would be excessive for a rat, the differences between the columns are not a formality. The general quality requirements for the feed itself are carried by Part 1 of the series, and the determination of each of these components is carried by the analytical parts, GB/T 14924.9 to GB/T 14924.12. Issued on 23 December 2010 and in force since 1 October 2011, it replaces GB 14924.3-2001.

Foreword

3.2.1 GB 14924 in this section in conventional nutrient feed component indexes and indicators

3.2.2 feed amino acid, methionine Cystine indicators are mandatory, others are recommended. This Part replaces GB 14924.3-2001 "experimental animals such as mice rats feed", GB 14924.4-2001 "experimental animals RABBIT feed ", GB 14924.5-2001" guinea pig animal feed ", GB 14924.6-2001" to laboratory animals Rats feed ", GB 14924.7-2001" dog animal feed ", GB 14924.8-2001" monkey animal feed. " This section, compared with the previous version, the main changes are as follows:

a) This section is GB 14924.3-2001, GB 14924.4-2001, GB 14924.5-2001, GB 14924.6-2001, GB 14924.7-2001, GB 14924.8-2001 standard form content integration;

b) amend the original standard part of regular nutrient content index (gophers maintain feed, growth and reproduction feed crude protein content; dog Maintain feed crude fiber content, growth and reproduction feed crude protein and crude fat content);

c) provides for conventional feed nutrients, amino acids and mineral content of the constant unit in g/kg expressed;

d) provides for cooperation and constant content of minerals and trace mineral content of vitamin feed maximum limit is twice the lower limit.
