Scope
YY/T 1670.1-2019 is the English-translated version of 医疗器械神经毒性评价 第1部分:评价潜在神经毒性的试验选择指南.
YY/T 1670.1-2019 is the Chinese pharmaceutical industry standard that guides the selection of tests for evaluating the potential neurotoxicity of a medical device.
It is the first part of the YY/T 1670 series and sets out when such an evaluation is needed, the information to gather first, the in vitro and in vivo tests available and the criteria by which the appropriate ones are chosen, so that the assessment fits the device, its materials and its contact with nervous tissue. Issued on 24 July 2019, it has applied since 1 August 2020.

Foreword
YY/T 1670 "Evaluation of Neurotoxicity of Medical Devices", including the following sections.
--- Part 1. Guidelines for the selection of trials for evaluating potential neurotoxicity;
--- Part 2. Neuronal cytotoxicity test. This part is the first part of YY/T 1670.
This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
Introduction
The purpose of this section is to recommend a set of available biological tests for detecting neurotoxicity caused by medical devices to the nervous system, and
GB/T 16886 series standards and supporting method standards are used together. Consider the requirements of GB/T 16886.1, chemical characterization of materials (GB/T 16886.18), hazard identification and risk assessment (GB/T 16886.12 and YY/T 1512), combined with existing toxicological data.
The nervous system is heterogeneous and consists mainly of neural tissue, including unique cells, proteins, and biochemical pathways.
The central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. The interaction of a degradation product of a material or material with the nervous system may have a structure of the nervous system And/or features have a negative impact. The ability to repair the nervous system is limited, so preclinical assessment of potential neurotoxicity is very important.
When considering the neurotoxicity of a medical device, consider the contact time and nature between the body tissue and the medical device, and the intended use.
, material characteristics and other information (such as clinical research, post-marketing supervision and adverse events, etc.).
For materials with a clinical history of use in similar neurological applications, chemical characterization can be used to assess similarity.
1 Scope
This section of YY/T 1670 specifies guidelines for the selection of trials for evaluating potential neurotoxicity. This section applies to medical devices Use to assess the potential neurotoxicity of medical devices.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Neurotoxicity
The properties of exogenous chemicals that cause damage to the nervous system, including the ability to cause structural and functional damage to the central and peripheral nerves.
3.2 Astrocyte hyperplasia astrogliosis
Astrocytes are the most abundant and largest cells in the nervous system, and they play an important role in the metabolism of neurons.
The shape, which emits many protrusions from the cell body, stretches around the cell body, dendrites, synapses, etc. of the neurons. Impaired or abnormal disease in the central nervous system The phenomenon of an increase in the number of astrocytes appearing under the condition.
3.3 Microglia
Also known as microglia, a migratory phagocytic cell derived from mesodermal tissue, the cell body is fusiform or polygonal, with many small spines Dendritic, cytoplasmic, nucleus elongated or triangular, with more heterochromatin. It has the function of phagocytosis and waste removal.
3.4 Myelin Lesions
When the myelin sheath is stimulated or damaged for various reasons, abnormal pathological changes in structure or function, such as demyelinating diseases, etc., are caused.
3.5 Neurodegenerative
Neuronal degeneration and secondary demyelination caused by hereditary and endogenous causes can cause a variety of chronic, multivariate progressive diseases Diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, motor neuron disease and multiple system atrophy.
