Part 7 of the series on chemical analysis of nickel cobalt manganese ternary precursor, YS/T 928.7-2026 describes the determination of fluorine and chlorine content by two methods: the ion selective electrode method (method 1) and the ion chromatography method (method 2).

Method 1 applies to the determination of fluorine in the precursor, in the range 0.010% to 0.050%. Method 2 applies to the determination of fluorine and chlorine, with fluorine in the range 0.010% to 0.050% and chlorine in the range 0.0001% to 0.050%. It is used by precursor and battery material producers, buyers and testing laboratories. It is a voluntary standard, as shown by the /T in its code. It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 15 April 2026 and takes effect on 1 November 2026. It is a new standard.
