The document sets out the technical requirements for the extension of the Path Computation Element Protocol (PCEP) in the control plane of Bit Index Explicit Replication (BIER) networks. It covers the BIER information that is advertised and the corresponding PCEP encapsulation format.

It applies to scenarios where BIER-capable network devices use PCEP to exchange BIER information, and also to the technical research, development and testing of BIER-capable network devices. Equipment manufacturers, controller developers and test laboratories are typical users. The /T in the code means it is a voluntary standard. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved it; it was issued on 1 June 2026 and takes effect on 1 September 2026. It is a new standard and does not replace an earlier edition.
