This document specifies the technical requirements for the extension of Border Gateway Protocol - Link State (BGP-LS) in the Bit Index Explicit Replication (BIER) control plane. It covers the BIER information that is advertised and the corresponding BGP-LS encapsulation format.

It applies to scenarios where BIER-capable network devices use BGP-LS to exchange control plane information, and also to the technical research, development and testing of BIER-capable network devices. Equipment manufacturers, software developers and test laboratories are the likely users. The /T in the code indicates a voluntary standard. It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 1 June 2026 and takes effect on 1 September 2026. It is a new standard, and it forms the fourth part of the series on the BIER control plane.
