This document sets out the technical requirements for the extension of the Intermediate System to Intermediate System (ISIS) protocol in the Bit Index Explicit Replication (BIER) control plane. It covers the newly defined BIER information sub-TLV, the BIER MPLS encapsulation sub-TLV and related items.
It applies to the design, development and testing of network devices and systems in BIER networks that use ISIS as the interior gateway protocol (IGP) to advertise and learn BIER-related information. Equipment manufacturers, software developers and test laboratories are typical users. The /T in the code shows that it is voluntary. YD/T 6912.1-2026 is a recommended industry standard of the People's Republic of China in the Telecom sector, approved and issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on 1 June 2026, with effect from 1 September 2026.
It is administered by the China Communications Standards Association.

1 Scope
This document sets out the technical requirements for the extension of the Intermediate System to Intermediate System (ISIS) protocol in the Bit Index Explicit Replication (BIER) control plane.
