Scope
QC/T 991-2015 is the English-translated version of 乘用车 轻合金车轮90° 冲击试验方法.
QC/T 991-2015 gives two laboratory methods, I and II, to judge the strength and safety performance of a light alloy passenger car wheel struck perpendicular to its axis; either may be used.
Clause 3 takes its vocabulary from GB/T 2933; clause 4 wants a representative new wheel, through every processing step and fitted with a tire.
Both use a hammer moving vertically over a bracket holding the wheel and tire assembly: the tire section centreline is aligned with the hammerhead, the part to be struck set under it, the hammer released, and the rim then read for deformation or cracking by the normative method of Appendix A. Method I passes a wheel that, at an impact energy E1 of 1.15 times Fr, shows no crack and an inner rim deformation of 2.5 mm or less.
Method II takes the tire named by the wheel or vehicle manufacturer and tightens the nuts or bolts to (110 ± 10) N·m where no torque is given. Issued by MIIT on 30 April 2015, it has applied since 1 October 2015.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Structure and drafting of standards.
1 Scope
This standard specifies two laboratory test methods, I and II, to assess the strength and safety performance of the wheel when the wheel is subjected to the impact perpendicular to the axis. It may select either of the two methods to carry out test.
This standard applies to light alloy wheels of passenger cars.
2 Normative references
The following documents are essential to the application of this document. For the dated documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable to this document; for the undated documents, only the latest version (including all the amendments) are applicable to this standard.
GB/T 2933 Wheels and rims for pneumatic tires - Vocabulary, designation and marking, (GB/T 2933-2009, ISO 3911:2004 IDT)
3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 2933 apply to this standard.
4 Test samples
The representative new wheel which has undergone all processing steps, is equipped with tires, is applicable to the vehicles.
5 Method I
5.1 Test equipment
Figure 1 shows a schematic diagram of a typical test equipment for Method I. It consists mainly of a hammer that can move in the vertical direction and a wheel & tire assembly mounting bracket. The main requirements are as follows. […]
5.2 Test methods
5.2.3.1 Install the wheel & tire assembly on the test machine. Ensure that the size of the fixing device of the wheel on the test machine is appropriate to that of the fixing device which is used on the vehicle. Adjust the axial position of the wheel, so that the centerline of the tire's section is aligned with the centerline of the hammerhead (see Figure 1), then lock the axial adjustment mechanism.
Adjust the position of the wheel in the circumferential direction, so that the impacted portion is directly under the hammerhead.
5.2.3.4 Release the hammer to carry out the impact.
5.2.3.5
Measure the deformation or cracking of the rim. The measurement method of rim's deformation is as shown in Appendix A.
5.3 Qualification criteria
The wheel shall, after being impacted, comply with the following requirements.
When E1 = 1.15 x Fr, there is no crack in the wheel, the inner rim's deformation shall be <= 2.5 mm;
6 Method II
6.1 Test equipment
Figure 2 shows a schematic diagram of a typical test equipment for Method II.
It is mainly composed of a hammer that can move in the vertical direction and a wheel & tire assembly mounting bracket. The main requirements are as follows. […]
6.2 Test methods
6.2.3.2 Manually tighten the nut or bolt to the specified torque value, or use the methods as recommended by the vehicle or wheel manufacturer to tighten it. If there is no torque requirement, it is recommended to use the torque of (110 ± 10) N · m.
6.2.3.5 Check the deformation or crack of the rim. The measurement method of rim deformation is as shown in Appendix A.
6.2.1 Test preparation
The tires selected for the test shall be tires specified by the wheel or vehicle manufacturer. If not specified, it is recommended to use the tubeless radial tires
6.3 Qualification criteria
The wheel shall, after being impacted, comply with the following requirements. […]
