3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

3.1 bridge inspection vehicle

special motor vehicle for operation, which is equipped with devices such as rotary, luffing and telescopic mechanism as well as control system, and is intended for bridge inspection and maintenance

3.2 bridge inspection equipment

equipment of a bridge inspection vehicle, excluding the chassis part, which is used to transport workers and working equipment to the designated location for work

3.3 work platform

equipment of a bridge inspection vehicle, which is used for carrying workers and working equipment

3.4 maximum horizontal range

maximum horizontal distance (L) from the slewing center II of a work platform to the outer edge of the platform when the platform is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the supporting, as shown in Table A.1 of Annex A

3.5 maximum lower depth

maximum vertical distance (Hmax) from the lowest bearing surface of a work platform to the support surface of the bridge inspection vehicle when the work platform is below the support surface of the bridge inspection vehicle, as shown in Table A.2 of Annex A

3.6 maximum crossing width

maximum horizontal distance (L1) from the outermost edge of the working side of the vehicle to the inner side of the vertical boom when the bridge inspection vehicle is working, as shown in Table A.1 of Annex A

3.7 maximum crossing height

maximum vertical distance (H1) from the highest point on the lower side of the main boom to the bearing surface when the bridge inspection vehicle is operating, as shown in Table A.3 of Annex A

3.8 maximum working height

maximum vertical distance (H2) from the bearing surface of the work platform to the bearing surface of the bridge inspection vehicle when the work platform is above the bearing surface of the bridge inspection vehicle, as shown in Table A.4 of Annex A

3.9 slewing center I

overall slewing center of the bridge inspection equipment

3.10 slewing center II

slewing center of the work platform

3.11 rated load

normal operating load designed for the work platform, consisting of loads of the workers and working equipment acting vertically on the work platform

Note: a work platform can have multiple rated loads.
