Scope
QC/T 1247-2025 is the English-translated version of 温室气体 产品碳足迹量化方法与要求 汽车动力蓄电池.
QC/T 1247-2025 covers the quantification of the product carbon footprint of automotive traction batteries, specifying the quantification scope, the inventory analysis content, the impact assessment methods and the carbon footprint report; it applies to automotive traction batteries, and other battery types may use it for guidance.
It builds on GB/T 24067-2024, from which most of its terms are taken, treats climate change as the single impact category and expresses results in carbon dioxide equivalent.
Clause 3 defines the carbon footprint of a product and the partial carbon footprint, process emission, functional unit, declared unit, system boundary, activity data and the data hierarchy of primary, site-specific and secondary data, together with data quality and the data quality rating.
It also defines the circular footprint formula method and the recycled content method, the two ways of handling recycled material across life cycles, and separates biomass, virgin and recycled materials.
Carbon offsetting is defined but is not permitted in quantifying a product or partial carbon footprint.
Clause 4 lists the abbreviations used, among them CFF, CFP, CO2e and DQR, and clauses 5 to 11 set the quantification objectives and range, the inventory analysis, the impact assessment, the interpretation of results, the content of the carbon footprint report and the rules for a carbon footprint statement.
Annexes A, B and C are normative, fixing the accounting boundary for material acquisition and for battery production and the data quality rating; the global warming potential values and report template in Annexes D and E are informative.

3.1 Carbon footprint of a product; CFP
The sum of GHG emissions and GHG removals in the product system, expressed in carbon dioxide equivalents; life cycle assessment is conducted based on climate change as the single environmental impact type.
[Source: GB/T 24067-2024, 3.1.1]
3.2 Partial carbon footprint of a product; partial CFP
The sum of GHG emissions and GHG removals during one or more selected stages or processes throughout the product lifecycle, expressed in carbon dioxide equivalents.
[Source: GB/T 24067-2024, 3.1.2]
3.3 Process emission
Greenhouse gas emissions caused by physical or chemical changes other than fuel combustion during production, waste treatment and disposal, and other processes.
[Source: GB/T 32150-2015, 3.8]
3.4 Functional unit
A benchmark unit used to quantify the functions of a product system.
[Source: GB/T 24067-2024, 3.3.7]
