Scope

QC/T 1205.4-2024 is the English-translated version of 纯电动乘用车换电通用平台 第4部分:电池包与设施的通信.

QC/T 1205.4-2024 covers the communication between a swappable battery pack and the battery swap facilities of all-electric passenger vehicles, and is Part 4 of the QC/T 1205 series on the all-electric passenger vehicle power exchange platform; the foreword lists Part 4 as the only part released so far.

It specifies the requirements for that communication over the Controller Area Network at the physical layer, the data link layer and the application layer, and applies between the swappable battery pack and the battery swap infrastructure.

The document is organised as general provisions, network topology, physical layer, data link layer, and message format and content.

Clause 4 lists the equipment a swap station may include, states that the station and the battery management system are electrically connected through the battery box connector, and splits the interface into two modes: Mode 1, in which the charging equipment and the battery management system use the GB/T 27930 protocol for the charging function and GB/T 32895-2016 for other functions, and Mode 2, in which GB/T 27930 is not used and charging runs on CAN standard frames or a customised charging interaction process.

During charging, the charger and the battery management system shall monitor voltage, current and temperature, and the battery management system shall manage the whole process with its charging control algorithm.

ISO 11898-1, ISO 11898-2, ISO 14229-1:2013 and SAE J1939-11 appear as normative references. The terms include the 24-bit parameter group number, taken with modification from GB/T 27930-2015.

4 General

4.1 According to the requirements of 4.2 in GB/T 29772-2013, the battery swap station may include: charging equipment, battery box replacement equipment, battery box storage equipment, battery box transfer equipment, vehicle guidance system, battery testing and maintenance equipment, monitoring room, distribution room, safety protection facilities, driveway, parking space, business room and other auxiliary facilities.

4.2 The battery swap station and the battery management system are electrically connected through the battery box connector.

4.3 The communication between the battery swap station (battery swap infrastructure) and the battery pack (battery management system) shall include communication of charging functions and other functions.

4.4 The charging equipment and the battery management system of the battery swap station are based on the communication protocol specified in GB/T 27930 for communication of charging function, and the battery management system supports the communication protocol specified in GB/T 32895-2016 for communication of other functions. This communication mode is defined as Mode 1.

4.5 The charging equipment and the battery management system of the battery swap station do not use the communication protocol specified in GB/T 27930 for communication of charging function; instead, they use CAN standard frames or customized charging interaction processes. This communication mode is defined as Mode 2.

4.6 During the charging process, the charger and battery management system shall monitor parameters such as voltage, current and temperature. At the same time, the battery management system shall manage the entire charging process according to the charging control algorithm.
