Scope

QC/T 1204.5-2024 is the English-translated version of 纯电动乘用车车载换电系统互换性 第5部分:车辆与电池包的通信.

QC/T 1204.5-2024 is Part 5 of the QC/T 1204 series on the compatibility of on-board battery swap systems for battery electric passenger vehicles, and covers communication between the vehicle and the battery pack, specifying the communication rules and requirements between battery swapping vehicles and battery packs.

The general principles in Clause 4 require the network between the electric vehicle and the BMS of the replaceable pack to use the CAN2.0B, CAN FD or wireless protocol and to satisfy the UDS diagnostic protocol; they require that BMS to monitor and report high-voltage insulation resistance and high-voltage interlock status; where the pack has a thermal management function, the BMS shall also monitor the temperature of the battery cooling interface; and diagnostic services are to follow ISO 14229 and ISO 15765.

Clause 5 fixes the network communication topology formed by the vehicle electronic control unit and the BMS, and Clause 6 sets the message format and the requirements for that topology between the complete vehicle and the BMS.

Clause 3 defines the vocabulary, including battery management system, frame, message as one or more CAN or CAN FD data frames sharing a parameter group number, available energy, insulation resistance as the equivalent resistance of the high-voltage system to ground, diagnostic trouble code as a 4-byte value, and unified diagnostic services.

GB/T 19596, GB/T 32960.3 and GB/T 34014 are normative references, and informative Appendix A gives the network management message format.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 19596, and the following are applicable to this document.

3.1 Battery management system; BMS

A system that monitors the status of the battery (temperature, voltage and state of charge, etc.), can provide communication, security, battery cell balancing and management control for the battery, and provide communication interface with application equipment.

3.2 Frame

A series of data bits that constitute a complete message.

3.3 Messages

One or multiple "CAN/CANFD data frames" with the same parameter group number.

3.4 Available energy

The energy that can be released from the current battery under specific discharge conditions.

3.5 Insulation resistance

The equivalent resistance value of the high-voltage system to ground.

3.6 Electronic control unit; ECU

An on-board computer composed of a microcomputer and peripheral circuits.

3.7 Diagnostic trouble code; DTC

A 4-byte value used to identity the type of fault, associated fault mode and the number of occurrences.

3.8 Unified diagnostic services; UDS

ECU controllers with diagnostic functions implement unified diagnostic service standards.

4 General Principles

4.1 The communication network between electric vehicle and BMS of the replaceable battery pack shall adopt CAN2.0B / CAN FD / wireless communication protocol.

4.2 The communication between electric vehicle and BMS of the replaceable battery pack shall satisfy the UDS diagnostic protocol.

4.3 The BMS of the replaceable battery pack shall monitor and report the high-voltage insulation resistance.

4.4 The BMS of the replaceable battery pack shall monitor and report the high-voltage interlock status.

4.5 The BMS of the replaceable battery pack with battery thermal management function shall implement temperature monitoring of the battery cooling interface.

4.6 Diagnostic services shall refer to ISO 14229 and ISO 15765.

5 Network Topology

The network communication topology composed of the vehicle electronic control unit ECU and BMS is shown in Figure 1.
