Part 4 of the NB/T 20421 series, NB/T 20421.4-2017, is the Chinese energy industry standard covering oxidation induction techniques as a way of monitoring the condition of cables important to safety in nuclear power plants.

It lays down how samples are selected, what the measurement system must provide, the conditions under which measurements are taken and how the measurement results are reported.

Its scope takes in safety-related nuclear plant cables built from organic or polymer materials, and it extends to other equipment made with organic or polymeric materials.

The measurement work draws on GB/T 19466.6-2009. The National Energy Administration issued it as a recommended standard under classification F83. Issued on 10 February 2017, it has applied since 1 July 2017.
