Sealing the openings left in nuclear island buildings is the subject of NB/T 20388-2016, a recommended standard of the Chinese energy industry.

It gives the basic requirements for the construction and acceptance of electrical and mechanical hole sealing in the nuclear island buildings of pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants, where the plugging has to satisfy a functional design requirement.

Nuclear power plants of other types may follow it as a reference. The standard is applied with GB 23864, GB 50204, GB/T 5048, GB/T 7350, GB/T 22158-2008, NB/T 20123, NB/T 20124, NB/T 20341, EJ/T 564 and JGJ 63. Issued on 5 February 2016, it has applied since 1 July 2016.
