NB/T 20089-2012 is the Chinese energy industry standard that gives the criteria for protecting class 1E power systems and equipment in nuclear power plants.

Building on accepted industrial practice, it states the general design principles, the design criteria and the testing and monitoring requirements for that protection, together with the requirements peculiar to nuclear power plants.

It is applied to the protection of safety-class power system equipment in such plants. Among the documents it quotes are GB/T 14285, GB/T 14598.15, GB 50054, GB 50065, DL/T 620, EJ/T 625 and NB/T 20053.

The standard replaces EJ/T 639-1992. Issued on 6 January 2012, it has applied since 6 April 2012.
