NB/T 10122-2018 is the recommended Chinese energy industry standard that covers the scanning and imaging of shale by X-ray computed tomography. It lays down the method to be followed when CT scanning is used on shale.

The standard is written for three-dimensional imaging of the internal structure of shale obtained in this way. It also notes that it does not address every safety issue connected with its use, leaving the user to establish suitable safety and protection measures and to define their limits before applying it.
