Scope

NB/T 1003-2012 is the English-translated version of 国家石油储备地下水封洞库工程项目建设标准（试行）.

NB/T 1003-2012 is a Chinese energy industry code, issued on a provisional basis, for the construction of underground oil storage in rock caverns belonging to the national oil strategic reserve.

It applies to newly built underground water-sealed oil storage projects of that reserve, which store oil in caverns excavated in rock and sealed by groundwater.

The international classification places it with petroleum and natural gas technology, and the Chinese one with engineering construction. It is used alongside a set of national codes, among them GB 50010, GB 50021, GB 50058, GB 50074, GB 50086, GB 50140, GB 50455, GB 50568, GB 6722, GB 12348 and CECS 38. Issued on 29 October 2012, it has applied since 1 March 2013.
