JB/T 8892-2011 is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard on the metallographic examination of internal combustion engine pistons made of rare earth eutectic aluminium-silicon alloy, the alloy being referred to as 66-1. It sets the technical requirements for the piston microstructure after heat treatment, the methods of inspecting and assessing that microstructure, and the rating used. It applies to the microstructural inspection of such pistons in reciprocating internal combustion engines of cylinder diameter not more than 200 mm. It replaces JB/T 8892-1999 and quotes JB/T 6289-2005. Issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, it carries Chinese classification J92 and international classification 27.020.
