JB/T 6261-2026 gives the technical specifications for resistance strain gauges in the sense of the measuring instrument, that is, the electrical instrument used together with resistance strain sensors to read strain in tests on structures and materials. It is a product standard for this type of laboratory instrument.

It is used by instrument manufacturers, by test laboratories and research institutes that operate strain measuring equipment, and by buyers who specify and accept it. It is voluntary, as the /T in the code shows. It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 1 June 2026 and takes effect on 1 December 2026. It replaces JB/T 6261-1992.
