1 Foreword

JB/T 6012.5-2014 was issued by MIIT on 6 May 2014 and has been in force since 1 October 2014.

It is one of 6 parts of the JB/T 6012 series.

2 Scope

This standard is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard covering fluorescent penetrant testing of the intake and exhaust valves of internal combustion engines. It sets out the terms and definitions used for this inspection, the general requirements, the basic penetrant testing procedure, the operating methods for carrying the test out, and the rules for identification and re-identification of the valves examined. As the fifth part of the JB/T 6012 series on engine intake and exhaust valves, it deals with the fluorescent penetrant method alone and not with valve design or materials. It quotes GB/T 9445, GB/T 11533, GB/T 12604.3, GB/T 23337 and JB/T 6064.
