1 Foreword

JB/T 6012.4-2008 was issued by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China on 4 June 2008 and has been in force since 1 November 2008.

It is one of 6 parts of the JB/T 6012 series.

2 Scope

This standard is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard for the ultrasonic inspection of friction-welded bimetallic valve bars, carried out by the direct longitudinal wave method. It sets out how welding defects are found and the criteria by which they are judged. Its field is the valves of reciprocating piston internal combustion engines with a cylinder diameter below 200 mm, and semi-finished friction-welded valve bars may also be examined with reference to it. Classified J93 in the Chinese system and 27.020 in the international one, the standard was issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and replaces JB/T 5093-1991. Among the standards it quotes are GB/T 9445, GB/T 12604.1, JB/T 4008 and JB/T 4009.
