The document is Part 2 of the series on industrial gateways. It sets out the technical specification for evaluating industrial gateways that serve programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and sensors. A gateway of this kind collects data from PLCs and sensors and passes it to higher-level systems, and this part deals with how such gateways are evaluated.

Gateway manufacturers, testing and evaluation laboratories, system integrators and buyers who need to assess these devices use it. It is a voluntary industry standard, as the /T in its code shows. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued it on 28 April 2026, and it comes into force on 2 November 2026. It is a new standard.
