JB/T 12589-2016 is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard for high-definition home theatre screens. It covers the terminology and definitions, the classification, the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the rules for marking, packaging, transport and storage of the high-definition screen. It applies to reflective home theatre screens of the hard or soft kind, and within those only to flat, arc and ring-shaped reflective screens; spherical screens, cambered screens and screens for other special purposes fall outside it, while screens of a similar kind may take it as a reference.
