Mica sold for cosmetic use is the subject of HG/T 4534-2013, a recommended chemical industry standard of China. The standard classifies the material and then sets its requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the rules on marking, labelling, packaging, transport and storage. It applies to cosmetic mica including synthetic fluorphlogopite and natural sericite, so it covers both the manufactured and the mined forms of the mineral. Particle size and mineral test standards are quoted with it, among them GB/T 6003.1-1997, GB/T 8234 and GB/T 9086-2007, together with the national hygiene requirements for cosmetics. Issued on 17 October 2013, it has applied since 1 March 2014.
