HG/T 4217-2011 is the Chinese chemical industry standard for inorganic-coated compound fertilizers, also called complex fertilizers. It states the requirements for this type of fertilizer, the test methods, the inspection rules and the rules for marking, packaging, transport and storage. It covers water-soluble fertilizer wrapped in a citrate-soluble or sparingly soluble inorganic coating based on inorganic compounds or minerals, so that the nutrients are released gradually. Sulfur-coated fertilizers are outside its scope. It quotes GB/T 6679, GB/T 8170-2008, GB 8569, GB/T 8571, GB/T 8572, GB/T 8573, GB/T 8574, GB/T 8576, GB/T 8577, GB 15063-2009, GB 18382, GB 21633, GB/T 24891 and HG/T 2843. Issued on 20 December 2011, it has applied since 1 July 2012.
