HG/T 4216-2011 is a recommended Chinese chemical industry standard giving rapid test methods for the nutrient release period and the release rate of slow-release and controlled-release fertilizers. It applies to nitrogen fertilizers, potash fertilizers, compound fertilizers, bulk blended (BB) fertilizers and similar products in which all the granules, or a defined part of them, have been treated by a process that slows the release of nutrients. It does not cover stabilized fertilizers that rely on nitrification or urease inhibitors to delay the conversion of the nutrient forms, nor inorganic-coated compound fertilizers, nor urea-based slow-release fertilizers whose nutrients are in chelated organic form. GB/T 8170, GB 21633 and GB/T 23348-2009 are quoted. Issued on 20 December 2011, it has applied since 1 July 2012.
