HG/T 20577-2013 is the English-translated version of 塔填料流体力学及传质性能测试规范.
HG/T 20577-2013 is a recommended chemical industry specification for testing the hydrodynamic and mass transfer performance parameters of tower packings. It applies to packings placed inside a column for the purpose of separating a mixture, both random and structured. Packings used for defoaming, foam removal, cooling or flame protection are not included, and the specification does not deal with the physical and chemical properties of the packing material itself, such as mechanical strength, chemical composition, heat and corrosion resistance or resistance to ageing. Newly developed packings may be tested by reference to it. The test equipment it describes, together with the selection of materials, the design and the manufacture of that equipment, must also satisfy the relevant national requirements beyond the documents the standard lists.

This specification applies to the purpose of separation of the mixture for the purpose of the performance of the internal packing of the tower, including bulk, structured packing. The packing referred to in this specification does not include fillers for defoaming, removing foaming, cooling and flame protection purposes. This specification does not include the physical and chemical properties of the filler, such as the mechanical strength, chemical composition, heat resistance and corrosion resistance of the material used for the packing, and the aging resistance. Other newly developed packing tests can be carried out with reference to this specification. The test equipment given in this specification, its material selection, design and manufacture in addition to the norms given in the standard list, it should also comply with the relevant provisions of the relevant national standards.
