3.1 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1.1 Action alarm

Alarms associated with automatic actions.

Note. Alarms and actions are both caused by a common discrete state change.

3.1.2 alarm

Human-machine interface notifications that require operator response due to changes in discrete states.

3.1.3 Automatic mode

The operating mode of the process object is automatically executed by the control logic.

3.1.4 Blocking mode

The mode in which the function is active when blocking is activated.

For input functions. The alarm status signal for process variable limit checks is blocked within the function, issuing a notification, but all related automatic...
