GB/T 9578-2021 is the English-translated version of 工业参比炭黑4#.

GB/T 9578-2021 is the Chinese national standard for industry reference carbon black 4, the reference material against which rubber grade carbon blacks are compared.

It fixes the characteristic values of the IRC4 sample and the tests by which they are verified, taking from the GB/T 3780 series the iodine adsorption number, oil absorption number on the untreated and the compressed sample, CTAB surface area, tinting strength, heating loss, ash, toluene extract transmittance, identification in natural rubber and sieve residue, from GB/T 10722 the nitrogen surface area, and from GB/T 14853 the pour density, fines and attrition and pellet crushing strength.

Terms follow HG/T 3580-2018, and Appendix A now carries the literature values of IRB9 instead of IRB7. It replaces GB/T 9578-2011, was issued on 11 October 2021 and has applied since 1 May 2022.
