Scope
GB/T 9253-2022 is the English-translated version of 石油天然气工业 套管、油管和管线管螺纹的加工、测量和检验.
GB/T 9253-2022 is the Chinese national standard for cutting, gauging and inspecting the API connection threads on oil and gas casing, tubing and line pipe.
Clause 1 covers the dimensions, tolerances and marking of line pipe, round thread casing and tubing and buttress thread casing threads, the gauges themselves, and the instruments and methods used to inspect both threads and gauges, including single-parameter acceptance gauges.
Its contents run from thread design and accuracy through single-parameter inspection of taper, pitch, profile and crest height, angle and profile, then crest diameter, ovality and standoff measurement, working and calibration gauge specifications, API gauge calibration and thread marking, with normative annexes on enhanced leak-resistant LC casing threads and dimension tables in both SI and US customary units.
Issued on 30 December 2022, it replaces GB/T 9253.2-2017 and has applied since 1 April 2023.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents" drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 9253.2-2017 "Machining, Measurement and Inspection of Casing, Tubing and Line Pipe Threads in Oil and Gas Industry Test". Compared with GB/T 9253.2-2017, except for structural adjustment and editorial changes, the main technical changes in this document are as follows.
a) Delete the content of the direct connection bushing (see Chapter 1, Appendix F of the 2017 edition);
b) Added crest height, crest diameter, crest flattening height, effective thread length, hand tightness, close distance, vanishing point, ellipticity, complete thread length Terms and definitions such as degree, pitch cone, machine tightness, taper, number of teeth, etc. (see 3.1);
c) Added abbreviations such as BC, LC, LP, MOW, Rd, SC, TECL, TPI (see 3.2);
d) Schematic diagrams of measurement distance (see Figure 14~17) and schematic diagrams of single-item calibration (see Figure 23~24, Figure 29~ Figure 34) and a schematic diagram of thread measurement (see Figure 25 to Figure 28, Figure 39 to Figure 46, Figure 49, Figure 52 to Figure 59);

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1.1 High addendum
The distance from the thread pitch cone to the crest cone.
Note: The corresponding term is root height, see GB/T 14791 for details.
3.1.2 Angular displacement angular misalignment
A measure of the angular misalignment of one or both thread cones of a coupling from the axis of the thread cone of a rotating shaft.
3.1.3 Specification code size designation
A dimensionless code for a specification or specified outer diameter.
3.1.4 Black-crested threads
A thread in which the crest is incomplete because the original rolled surface has not been removed.
Note 1. Non-full top thread has been called black top thread in the past.
Note 2. Non-full top threads are not necessarily black top.
