Foreword

This Document was drafted as per the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for Standardization - Part

1.Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents. This Document replaced GB/T 8948-2008 Polyvinyl Chloride Artificial Leather. Compared with GB/T 8948-2008, the major technical changes of this Document are as follows besides the structural adjustments and editorial modifications.

1 Scope

GB/T 8948-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering PVC artificial leather - the coating weight and the backing fabric, the tensile and tear strength and the peel between layers, the cold crack temperature, the abrasion, and the plasticiser and heavy metal limits on a material used in furniture and vehicles. Issued on 31 October 2025, it has been in force since 1 May 2026, replacing GB/T 8948-2008.

This Document specifies the classification and requirements, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage requirements for polyvinyl chloride leatherette; and describes the test methods. This Document applies to the production, inspection, and sale of polyvinyl chloride leatherette.

4 Classification

4.1 The products are classified according to the base fabric category, as shown in Table 1.

4.2 Products are classified into cold-resistant and ordinary products based on their cold resistance.
