GB/T 8704.8-2009 is the English-translated version of 钒铁 铝含量的测定 铬天青S分光光度法和EDTA滴定法.
GB/T 8704.8-2009 covers the determination of aluminium in ferrovanadium by two methods, chrome azurol S spectrophotometry and EDTA titration.
For the spectrophotometric method it sets out the principle and reagents: decomposition with nitric acid, fuming with sulfuric acid, ashing of the insoluble residue, removal of silica with sulfuric and hydrofluoric acid, fusion with potassium pyrosulfate, extraction of iron and vanadium with cupferron and chloroform, pH adjustment with hexamethylenetetramine, and absorbance of the aluminium complex read at 550 nm.
The spectrophotometric range is a mass fraction of 0.10% to 0.80% and the EDTA titration range 0.50% to 3.50%. It quotes GB/T 4010, replaces GB/T 8704.8-1994, was issued on 15 July 2009 and has applied since 1 April 2010.

1 Scope

3 Method One. Chromium Azure S Spectrophotometry
3.1 Principle
Sample decomposition with nitric acid, sulfuric smoke, filtered, and the filtrate was saved shots. After ashing the residue with sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid to remove the oxide Silicon, followed by potassium pyrosulfate melt, combined in the master bath. Then remove iron, vanadium and other impurity ions with CUPFERRON and chloroform extraction. By sulfur Smoke acid, nitric acid treatment in the presence of hydroxylamine hydrochloride, with hexamethylenetetramine to adjust the pH, aluminum and chrome azure S form a colored complex matter, 550nm wavelength measured absorbance on a spectrophotometer. On the quality of the calibration curve Richard aluminum, aluminum in the sample is calculated content.
3.2 Reagents and materials
Unless otherwise indicated in the analysis using only recognized as analytical grade reagents and distilled water or its equivalent purity water.
3.2.1 Coke potassium sulfate solid.
3.2.2 Chloroform.
3.2.3 Hydrofluoric acid, rho1.15g/mL.
3.2.4 Nitrate, rho1.42g/mL.
3.2.5 Nitric acid, 1 + 1.
3.2.6 Sulfuric acid, 1 + 1.
3.2.7 Sulfate, 1 + 60.
3.2.8 Sulfuric acid, 1 + 200.
3.2.9 ammonia, 1 + 1, stored in a plastic bottle.
3.2.10 CUPFERRON solution, 60g/L, with the preparation, use filtered.
3.2.11 hexamethylenetetramine solution, 400g/L. Weigh 200g hexamethylenetetramine placed in 600mL beaker, add water 500mL Dissolution, mixing, stored in plastic bottles.
3.2.12 hydroxylamine hydrochloride solution, 80g/L. Formulated with time.
