Scope
GB/T 8704.6-2020 is the English-translated version of 钒铁 硅含量的测定 硫酸脱水重量法和硅钼蓝分光光度法.
GB/T 8704.6-2020 is part 6 of the Chinese national series of chemical analysis methods for ferrovanadium and covers the determination of silicon. It describes two methods.
In the sulfuric acid dehydration gravimetric method the sample is decomposed with nitric and hydrochloric acid, the silicic acid is dehydrated by fuming with sulfuric acid, the precipitate is filtered, washed and ignited to constant mass at 1050 °C, the silicon is then volatilised with hydrofluoric acid and the loss in mass gives the result; the second method is silicomolybdic blue photometry.
It applies to silicon mass fractions from 0.10% to 3.50% and sets the reagents, the apparatus, the verification test, the expression of results and the repeatability and reproducibility limits.
It replaces GB/T 8704.6-2007, was issued on 2 June 2020 and has applied since 1 October 2020.

---Determination of vanadium iron silicon, manganese, phosphorus, aluminum, copper, chromium, nickel, titanium content by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (GB/T 8704.10).
This part is Part 6 of GB/T 8704.
This section was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB/T 8704.6-2007 "Determination of vanadium-iron-silicon content by sulfuric acid dehydration gravimetric method". This section is related to Compared with GB/T 8704.6-2007, the main technical changes are as follows.
--- Modified the content of normative references (see Chapter 2, Chapter 2 of the 2007 edition);
--- Added "instrument" (see 3.3);
--- Added "Verification Test" (see 3.5.4);
--- Added "Determining and Representing Analysis Results" (see 3.6.2);
--- Replace the allowable difference with the repeatability limit r and reproducibility limit R (see Chapter 8 of 3.7, 2007 edition);
--- Added silicon molybdenum blue spectrophotometry (see Chapter 4);
--- Added Appendix A and Appendix B.
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 8704 specifies sulfuric acid dehydration gravimetric method and silicon molybdenum blue spectrophotometric determination of silicon content.
This section applies to the determination of silicon content in iron vanadium, the determination range (mass fraction). 0.10% ~ 3.50%.

3 Method 1: Sulfuric acid dehydration gravimetric method
3.1 Principle
The sample is decomposed with nitric acid and hydrochloric acid, the fumes are evaporated with sulfuric acid to dehydrate the silicic acid, the soluble salts are dissolved with hydrochloric acid, the precipitate is separated, and washed by filtration After cleaning, the precipitate is burned to a constant amount at 1050°C. Hydrofluoric acid is added to volatilize and remove the silicon with silicon tetrafluoride.
The quality before and after the treatment is poor, and the silicon content is calculated.
3.2 Reagents and materials
Unless otherwise specified in the analysis, only approved analytically pure reagents and grade III and above distilled water in accordance with GB/T 6682 are used Or deionized water or water of equivalent purity.
3.2.1 Hydrochloric acid, rho1.19g/mL.
3.2.2 Hydrochloric acid, 14.
3.2.3 Hydrochloric acid, 1 10.
3.2.4 Nitric acid, 1 1.
3.2.5 Hydrofluoric acid, rho1.15g/mL.
