Scope
GB/T 8476-2008 is the English-translated version of 湖北白猪.
This standard fixes the breed characteristics, the production performance and the breeding value assessment of the Hubei white pig, together with a fourth subject that the draft garbles beyond reporting.
Clause 1 says the standard applies to the breeding, identification, production and breeding assessment of Hubei white pigs, and the page records no exclusion.
The draft prints clause 1 Scope, clause 2 Normative references, clause 3 species characteristics with 3.1 Origin and main characteristics, 3.2 species composition and 3.3 physical characteristics, and clause 4 Performance with 4.1 Growth, and it breaks off inside 4.1.2.
Clause 3 gives Wuhan in Hubei as the origin of the breed, says it is kept mainly in central, eastern and southern China, calls it a new lean variety nurtured from parental stock of China with strong resistance, good adaptability and good meat quality that can tolerate the summer heat and the cold wet winter weather of the Yangtze River region, and names Large White, Landrace and Tongcheng pigs and Rongchang pig local breed resources as used in its breeding.
Subclause 3.3 describes completely white hair, with a little dark spotting allowed on the eyes and the head of the tail, a medium sized head with a long straight mouth, medium sized ears carried slightly forward or slightly pendulous, a relatively straight back, waist and abdomen line, wide forequarters, longer and fuller hindquarters, stout limbs with strong hooves and not fewer than twelve effective nipples, and it refers the appearance photograph to Appendix A, which the foreword declares normative.
Subclause 4.1 says growth is measured in accordance with NY/T 820 and NY/T 822 and sets, for reserve pigs at two months, a weight of not less than 20 kg for boars and 18 kg for sows, and at six months a weight of not less than 90 kg and 84 kg, a body height of not less than 63 cm and 60 cm, a length of not less than 115 cm and 112 cm and the measure the draft calls bust of not less than 99 cm and 97 cm, while 4.1.2.1 sets adult boars at not less than 260 kg and adult sows at not less than 210 kg, both as a mean at 24 months or more.
Clause 2 cites NY/T 820, NY/T 821, NY/T 822 and NY/T 825.
The foreword records that the revision added a foreword, a chapter 1 of scope and a chapter 2 of normative references, reorganised the clauses of the 1987 edition into chapters 3 to 6, added the headings reserve pig and adult pig and the measures slaughter rate and carcass straight long, removed the presentation of ranges of values, merged the old tables and updated Appendix A while removing the content of the old Appendix B; it names Huazhong Agricultural University, Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences Institute of Animal Science and the Ministry of Agriculture Quality Supervision, Inspection pig test Test Center (Wuhan) as the drafting bodies, as the page writes them.
It replaces GB/T 8476-1987, was issued on 31 December 2008 and has applied since 1 May 2009.

This standard replaces GB/T 8476-1987 "Hubei White."
This standard and GB/T 8476-1987 compared to the main changes are as follows.

3 Species characteristics
3.1 Origin and main characteristics
Wuhan, Hubei white pig origin, mainly in central, eastern and southern China and other regions, is China's own parental nurturing new lean Variety; having a strong resistance, adaptability, good meat quality; the Yangtze River region can tolerate summer heat and winter cold and wet weather conditions.
3.2 Species composition
Hubei white pig breeding process used in Large White, Landrace and Tongcheng pigs, Rongchang pig breeds local resources.
3.3 Physical characteristics
Hubei White hair completely white, allowing the eyes and tail head a little dark spots. Medium-sized head, long straight mouth, ears medium-sized, slightly forward or Slightly pendulous. Back and waist and abdomen relatively straight line, wide forequarters, hindquarters in longer, fuller buttocks legs. Stout limbs, limb hoof strong.
