Scope

GB/T 6403.1-2008 is the English-translated version of 球面半径.

GB/T 6403.1-2008 is the short Chinese national standard that fixes the spherical radii a designer may put on a general machine part, so that the same few tool radii recur instead of arbitrary values.

It gives two series of preferred values in millimetres, the first series being the one to choose from and the second a fallback, running from 0.2 mm through the familiar steps of 0.4, 0.6, 1.0, 1.6, 2.5, 4.0, 6.0, 10, 16 and 20 mm and on up to 3200 mm, and it closes with drawn examples showing where such a radius is applied on a part.

It applies to general mechanical components. Designers and drawing offices use it. Part of the GB/T 6403 set alongside lubrication grooves, knurling, fillets and chamfers, it replaces GB/T 6403.1-1986, was issued on 22 September 2008 and has applied since 1 May 2009.

GB/T 6403 is divided into five parts.

--- GB/T 6403.1 spherical radius;

--- GB/T 6403.2 lubrication grooves;

--- GB/T 6403.3 knurled;

--- GB/T 6403.4 parts rounded and chamfered;

--- GB/T 6403.5 more wheel drive slot. This is Part 1 GB/T 6403's. This part is GB/T 6403.1-1986 "spherical radius" amendments.
