Scope
GB/T 6371-2008 is the English-translated version of 表面活性剂 纺织助剂 洗涤力的测定.
GB/T 6371-2008 specifies a determination of detergency in which a decontamination test is run with artificial soiled cloth and the result is evaluated by rating against a grey card.
Clause 1 states that the standard applies to the determination of the detergency of industrial anionic and non-ionic surfactants and is also applicable to the determination of detergency of certain cationic and amphoteric surfactants and of a surfactant compound.
The principle clause makes up the sample and the standard to a given concentration, adds the solutions to standard soiled cloth together with stainless steel beads, washes for a set time at a set temperature, then washes and dries the cloth and compares the depth of its colour visually against the standard, so as to evaluate the relative cleaning power.
The reagents and materials clause lists glycol ether, 95% ethanol, lanolin, industrial No. 20 butter, carbon ink and the grey card for assessing change in colour, while the apparatus clause calls for beakers of 400 mL, 1000 mL and 2000 mL, volumetric flasks of 500 mL and 1000 mL, a 200 mL straight cylinder, a thermometer from 0 to 100 degrees Celsius, a heating magnetic stirrer, scissors, a washing colour fastness testing machine of the SW type or similar with vessels of 500 mL each, stainless steel beads 6 mm in diameter and a laboratory padding machine with controllable speed and mangle.
The determination clause begins with the preparation of the standard soiled cloths, starting from the padding of carbon ink, and the draft on the page breaks off inside that step, so the washing and rating steps and the test report clause that the foreword mentions are not shown.
Clause 2 cites GB 250 on the grey card for assessing change in colour. The foreword records that this edition added a preamble, a clause on instruments and equipment and a clause on the test report, that the standard was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association and that it was first published in 1986.
It replaces GB/T 6371-1995, was issued on 1 April 2008 and has applied since 1 October 2008.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the determination method of decontamination tests using artificial dirty cloth, gray cards by rating evaluation of surfactant detergency.
This standard applies to industrial use - Determination of anionic and non-ionic surfactant detergency, and is also applicable to certain cationic, amphoteric Determination of detergency and a surfactant compound.

3 Principle
