China's national methods for the chemical analysis of chromium-containing refractories. Magnesia-chrome refractories are exceptionally good at what they do - they resist basic slags and thermal shock better than magnesia alone, which is why they lined cement kilns and non-ferrous furnaces for decades - and they carry a liability that has driven them out of many applications: under oxidising conditions in the presence of alkalis the chromium can be converted to the hexavalent state, which is water-soluble, carcinogenic, and a hazardous waste problem when the lining is eventually torn out. So the chromium content of these materials is analysed both for performance and for what it means at disposal. The standard covers thirteen determinations - loss on ignition, silica, ferric oxide, alumina, titania, calcia, magnesia, chromic oxide, potassium and sodium oxides, manganese oxide, phosphorus pentoxide, and zirconium and hafnium oxides - each over a defined measuring range.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2009 given rules. This standard replaces GB/T 5070-2007 "chromium-containing refractories chemical analysis method", compared with the GB/T 5070-2007, the main technical Surgery changes are as follows:
--- Increased zirconium (hafnium), phosphorus pentoxide test items (see Chapter 1);
--- Increasing zirconia (hafnium), phosphorus pentoxide allowable difference value analysis (see Table 2);
--- Increased potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide flame photometric detection method (see 15.2);
--- Increased the determination of low content elements by ICP-AES method (see Chapter 18);
--- Increased EDTA volumetric method zirconium (hafnium) method (see Chapter 17) was measured;
--- Increase the informative appendix provides reference plasma emission spectrometer working conditions (see Appendix B). Please note that some of the content of this document may involve patents. g) magnesium oxide (of MgO);

k) manganese oxide (of MnO);
l) phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5);
