This document defines the terminology in my country's radiation protection and radiation source safety field, playing a unifying and coordinating role, and facilitating the development of radiation protection and related technologies in my country.
Exchanges on radiation source safety. However, with the development of nuclear science and technology, many new processes, methods, technologies, and understandings have emerged.
New requirements have emerged, and the original standards can no longer fully meet the current definitions in nuclear science. To address these new needs, the terminology related to radiation protection and radiation source safety needs to be reduced.
To clarify the definitions of synonyms and near-synonyms for radiation protection and radiation source safety, and to avoid ambiguity and misunderstanding in the terminology, this document has been revised. The revision of this document aims to...
To meet the needs of my country's radiation protection and radiation source safety work, and to achieve unified and standardized terminology and definitions for radiation protection and radiation source safety in my country.
It aims to align with international terminology, achieve international standardization, and make it more scientific, rational, and effective.

Charged particles and/or uncharged particles that can cause ionization events through primary or secondary processes.
Note. In the field of ionizing radiation protection, ionizing radiation is also simply referred to as radiation.
radiation protection Protecting people and the environment from or minimizing the harmful effects of ionizing radiation, and methods to achieve this goal.
(radiation) source
Any substance or entity that can cause radiation exposure by emitting ionizing radiation or releasing radioactive material.
Note. For example, substances that emit radon are sources present in the environment; gamma irradiation sterilization devices are sources used in food irradiation preservation practices; and X-ray machines are sources used in radiological diagnostics.
In practice, nuclear power plants are the source of nuclear power generation. For the application of this document, complex facilities located in the same location or site are generally considered...
Or multiple devices can be considered as a single source.
radiation exposure
The act or state of being illuminated.
Note. Irradiation can be either external irradiation (irradiation from outside the body) or internal irradiation (irradiation from within the body).
irradiation
To expose living organisms or objects to radiation.
Unwanted or potentially harmful radioactive material present inside or on the surface of an object or human body, or in other places or environments.
