This document stipulates the principles, content, process, and methods for comprehensive assessment of direct losses from particularly serious natural disasters.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 26376-2010, as well as the following terms and definitions, apply to this document.

3.1 Natural disaster

Events or phenomena caused by natural factors that damage human life, property, social functions, and the ecological environment.

Note. This includes meteorological disasters, earthquake disasters, geological disasters, marine disasters, biological disasters, forest or grassland fires, etc.
