GB/T 46263-2025 is the English-translated version of 消费品质量分级 家用电器 熨烫器具.

GB/T 46263-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering grading ironing appliances into three quality bands from AAA to AAAAA — the smoothness and the scratch resistance of the soleplate, the temperature distribution and the stability of its regulation, the evaporation rate and the rate at which it decays, which separates an iron that steams on the first shirt from one that still steams on the tenth, and, for garment steamers, the steam output and the wrinkle removal rate. First edition, under the China National Light Industry Council. In force from 1 March 2026. Issued on 29 August 2025, it has been in force since 1 March 2026.

1 Scope

This document defines the terminology and definitions for ironing appliances, specifies quality indicators and indicator levels, and describes the test methods and grading labels. method.

This document applies to the assessment of the quality grading of ironing appliances.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 electric iron

A portable appliance with an electrically heated soleplate for ironing fabrics.

3.2 Garment Steamer

An appliance that uses electricity to generate steam from an ironless sole plate and applies it directly to the surface of a suspended fabric to remove wrinkles.

3.3 quality grading

The process of classifying product quality through scientific evaluation and clearly disclosing product quality information.

4 Basic Requirements

4.1 Basic safety requirements shall comply with the provisions of GB 44246, GB 44498 and relevant mandatory standards.

4.2 Ironing appliances shall comply with the provisions of the national or industry standards that are expressly implemented.

4.3 Product quality should be divided into 3 levels, with the highest level of quality grade being AAAAA, followed by AAAA and AAA.

5 Classification of Quality Indicator Levels

5.1 Classification of Quality Indicators for Electric Irons

5.1.1 Classification of base plate smoothness grades

The smoothness grade of the base plate is classified according to Table 1.

5.1.2 Classification of Scratch Resistance Grades for Base Plates

The scratch resistance rating of the base plate is classified according to Table 2.

5.1.3 Classification of Temperature Distribution Levels

The maximum absolute value of the temperature difference in the test results of 6.2.3 is selected for graded evaluation.

Temperature distribution levels are classified according to Table 3.

5.1.4 Classification of Temperature Regulation Stability Levels

The temperature regulation stability level is classified according to Table 4.

5.1.5 Evaporation Rate Classification

The evaporation rate classification is specified in Table 5.

5.1.6 Classification of Evaporation Rate Decrease Rate

The classification of evaporation rate attenuation rate levels is specified in Table 6.

5.2 Classification of Steam Garment Steamers

5.2.1 Classification of Steam Quantity Levels

5.2.2 Classification of Wrinkle Removal Rate
