Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This standard replaces GB/T 18799-2008 "Test Methods for the Performance of Household and Similar Electric Irons". This standard and GB/T 18799-

The main technical changes compared to.2008 are as follows.

---Modified the definition of "automatic cut-off device" (see 3.13, 3.13 of the.2008 edition);

--- Modify "Measurement voltage" to "Measurement voltage and frequency" and re-specify (see 5.3, 5.2 in.2008 edition);

--- Added anti-circumvention clauses (see 5.12);

---Modified the measurement test of the heating time of the steam operation of the open steam electric iron (see 9.1.1, 9.1.1 in the.2008 edition);

---Modified the measurement test of the evaporation time, evaporation rate and water leakage rate of the open steam iron (see 9.2.1, 9.2.1 of the.2008 edition);

---Modify the height between the container and the bottom plate to 500mm +/- 50mm [see 9.2.2 and Figure 4b), the.2008 edition of 9.2.2 and Figure 4b)];

---The tolerance and control procedure of the steam rate have been increased (see 9.2.3);

--- Deleted the remarks for the open steam iron with electric pump (see Chapter 14 of the.2008 edition);

---Added the measurement of the total evaporation time of hard water in non-pressure steam irons (see 14.1);

---Added the measurement of the total evaporation time of hard water in a pressure steam iron or a fast steam iron (see 14.2);

---Modified the description of hard water for testing (see 14.1 and 14.2, Chapter 14 of the.2008 edition);

1 Scope

This standard applies to electric irons for household and similar purposes.

The purpose of this standard is to describe and define the basic performance characteristics of household and similar electric irons that are of interest to users, and to describe the test results.

Standard methods for these characteristics.

The electric irons included in this standard are.

---Dry iron;

---Steam iron;

---Open steam iron with electric pump;

---Spray iron;

---Steam iron with a separate water container or evaporator/generator with a capacity not exceeding 5L.

This standard neither involves safety nor performance requirements.

Note. The primary feature considered in the performance evaluation of electric irons is the basic ability to iron the fabric flat without causing scorching or other damage to the fabric.

It is impossible to measure this characteristic stably and repeatedly with a single method. Therefore, these parameters are included in the test of the electric iron.
